Dear Editor,
Seeing the Sun-Telegraph photo (Oct. 27 edition) of one of our top Sidney Red Raiders cross country runners struggling to reach the finish line at the state championships, well, was painful.
Albeit, our Red Raiders boys’ and girls’ cross country teams performed with a mindset like the true champions that they are at state.
The boys had to overcome some adversity in hot, humid late October conditions, yet finished in the top 10 teams. The girls were just two teams away from winning it all. Their third-place finish speaks volumes for the tenacity, the athleticism and drive that those girls have. Now that’s just awesome!
There are many variables that go into winning a state championship. The process of training hard and smart, eating the right food for fuel, staying hydrated, getting enough rest and having a positive attitude are all part of this formula.
This season’s boys’ and girls’ teams have set the tone for great accomplishments to come in the Red Raiders’ cross country program.
