Lady Raiders take down Kimball to conclude regular season

The Sidney High volleyball team defeated the Kimball Longhorns (14-13) in four sets to close out its regular season Tuesday night in Kimball. The Lady Raiders won the match by scores of 25-21, 18-25, 25-21, 25-19. With the win, Sidney finished the regular season with a 10-20 record and a 1-5 posting in district play.

The Lady Raiders will get a clean slate for the B District 8 tournament, which will start Tuesday, Nov. 4. Game times and locations will be released later this week.

Senior right setter Erin Bown paced Sidney with a very nice all-around game. She tallied 10 kills, 14 assists, 11 digs and a pair of blocks. Senior middle blocker Savannah Rosenbaum led the Lady Raiders in kills with 11. Sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Knight picked up eight kills to go along with 16 digs and two ace serves. Sophomore middle blocker Annalise Lecher was a force at the net once again, collecting 10 kills and five blocks.

Sidney head coach Sarah Wilson says her players’ stats indicated her team’s aggressive play against Kimball.

“The ladies were determined to attack and terminate successfully,” Wilson said. “Kimball, likewise, swung at every opportunity, but we did a good job of blocking.”

The win boosted Sidney’s power point total ahead of Scottsbluff’s, making the Lady Raiders the third seed at the district tournament next week.
