Chappell man arrested following drug sting at his apartment

A Chappell resident faces four felonies after a drug bust that turned into a foot pursuit.

Jason Vogt, 31, is in custody after the Deuel County Sheriffs department arrested him during a sting operation took place earlier this month at Vogt’s apartment.

He faces charges of distribution of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school, possession with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and tampering with evidence.

WING Drug Task Force agents and the Deuel County Sheriff’s Office said that Vogt sold various amounts of methamphetamine to an undercover officer on Oct. 19 and Oct. 23. According to court documents, Vogt would allegedly borrow the undercover officer’s vehicle, drive to another location – possibly Julesburg, Colo. – and then return to complete the drug deal.

Vogt allegedly sold $40 worth of meth in one transaction and $100 worth of the drug in another to an undercover officer, accordingly to the court affidavit.

After the last drug buy, police attempted to arrest Vogt, but they said he attempted to run away, according to court documents. After police caught him after a short foot pursuit, they said he continued to disregard commands and was ultimately tasered.

Vogt was transported to Sidney Regional Medical Center and then police secured a search warrant for his apartment.

He will be back in court for his preliminary hearing on Nov. 17.
