Serving proudly since 1873 as the beautiful Nebraska Panhandle's first newspaper
Dear Editor,
The League of Women Voters has been encouraging active participation in government for 94 years, and the structure of Nebraska’s unique unicameral legislature makes it clear the “second house” in our state is made up of our citizens. Therefore it is essential that all eligible persons register to vote, learn about issues and candidates and cast an informed vote.
The League of Women Voters of Nebraska offers one nonpartisan tool to help with making informed choices. It is VOTE411.org, a website where voters can easily find personalized election information. A voter may enter their address to check their voter registration, find their voting location, compare positions of the candidates who will be on their ballot, and even print out their choices to fill out an early voting ballot or take with them for reference on election day.
All federal and statewide candidates were asked to participate for this election. We hope to expand coverage to include local races in 2016.
The responses to our questions from candidates are directly from them; we have not paraphrased or changed their words in any way. It gives an excellent glimpse into the thinking of many candidates.
Sherry Miller
President, League of Women Voters of Nebraska
