Wish lists sought for Oliver Reservoir

The South Platte Natural Resources District and the Oliver Reservoir Advisory Committee want to hear from the public.

In preparing for the recreation area’s future, the District and its advisory committee will be hosting a meeting on Thursday, Oct. 30 at the Kimball Eagles Club at 6:30 p.m.

SPNRD Assistant Manager Galen Wittrock says the District is forming it’s master plan and wants to know what people would like to see offered at the area. The SPNRD took over management of Oliver Reservoir in February.

Wittrock says plans are already in the works for next year, with the District building on the experience it gained from this summer. Much of this year, the District, volunteer, and part-time staff members focused on deferred maintenance.

“Now, we want to know what people want,” Wittrock said. “Is it more formal camp grounds, trails, or something else?”

The District plan will take into account immediate and long term needs, form a plan, and pursue grants or other budgeting needs.

Committee members don’t want the meeting’s timing to be a concern. Rather than worrying about feeding the clan and rushing to the meeting, residents are reminded that is Hamburger Night at the Eagles, and encourages residents to support the Eagles by eating at the club, then staying for the meeting.
