Medicare Part D drug coverage costs the government and beneficiaries far less than originally projected by using competition between insurance companies to improve quality and reduce costs. People with Medicare can learn about Part D and find out how to reduce their own costs at a presentation about comparing drug plans for 2015.
The Sidney Public Library at 1112 12th Ave., Sidney, is sponsoring “Choose the Right Medicare Drug Plan” on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014. Audience members are invited to ask questions. The event is open to people with Medicare, their caregivers and health care professionals.
Appointments are required, but there is no charge to attend. For more information, contact Caryn Long at (800) 234-7119.
The presentation will be given by Long, who is a representative of the Nebraska Senior Health Insurance Information Program. The program is part of a national network funded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, offers counseling and information about Medicare and related health insurance.
“Every year Part D plans can change prices, the drugs they cover, even the pharmacies where you get the biggest discount,” Long said. “That means that the best plan for you this year may not be the best plan for you next year.
“It’s important for people to compare Medicare drug plans every year. This workshop helps people with Medicare find out how to get the best coverage and lowest prices for the drugs they take.”
