Saturday, Oct. 11

Free winter car care inspection for Single Ladies! The men of the Evangelical Free Church of Sidney want to help you get your car ready for the winter months. Saturday, Oct. 11, you are invited to bring your car to the church parking lot for a free inspection. They will check your car fluid levels, tire pressure, belt conditions, lights, etc. If your vehicle appears to need engine work (fluid changes, belt changes, etc.) they will also recommend qualified mechanics in the area who can do that work for you. Their inspection and minor fluid additions will be free of chug. Participants are invited to relax and enjoy some coffee with other ladies in the church building while your car is being check. It will be their pleasure to serve any single ladies in Sidney and the surrounding communities. This will be held on Sat., Oct. 11 at the Evangelical Free Church parking lot (2763 11th Ave.) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 12

Knights of Columbus will hold their Pancake Breakfast on Sun., Oct. 12 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the St. Patrick’s Church in Parish Hall. Menu includes pancakes, french toast, bacon, sausage, eggs to order, orange juice and coffee.

Monday, Oct. 13

The City of Sidney will be observing the Columbus Day holiday on Mon., Oct. 13. All City Departments will be closed, including the Library, the Landfill, and both public transportation buses.  Trash collection normally scheduled for Monday will be picked up on Tuesday and Tuesday’s trash will be picked up on Wednesday.

Wednesday, Oct. 15

Whether the Bible is real, reliable, and relevant will be discussed at Lifetree Café on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Snacks and beverages are available. Saturday, Oct. 18

The Panhandle Quilt Guild will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Bridgeport on Oct. 18, 2014. Coffee is at 9 a.m. The program will be “Does It Pinterest You?” presented by Heather Harsh and Susan Simmons. The class “Take Four Placemats” will be taught after the meeting.

The quilting class, “Take Four Placemats” will be offered to the public at the Panhandle Quilt Guild meeting at the First Baptist Church, Bridgeport, on Oct. 18. For information and to register, please contact Susan Simmons at 631-6027 or Lorie Sanders at 631-6527.

Tuesday, Oct. 21

Cheyenne County 4-H Clover Kids

Clover Kids is a 4-H program that allows children ages 5 to 8 (K through 3rd grades)​ to participate in hands-on activities designed to build life skills. Meetings will begin on Tues., Oct. 21st at the Cheyenne County Community Center from 3:45 to 5 p.m. and will continue on the third Tuesday of the month. There is a registration fee. To register, please call the UNL Extension Office at (308) 254-4455. All children are welcome to participate.

Wednesday, Oct. 22

The pain and high cost of living with a lie and double life will be discussed at Lifetree Café on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. Admission to the 60-minute event is free.
