The Sidney High cross country teams came close to sweeping three consecutive meets on Monday in Kearney. The boys placed second overall with a score of 90, while the girls took first with an impressive score of 38.
Out of a field of 208 male runners, senior Jachob Wiedeburg came in with a time of 18:15, good for 14th place overall which led the Sidney boys. Senior Hayden Lieneman finished 21st at 18:36, while senior Brody McKnight followed just two seconds behind Lieneman for 22nd place. Junior Jacob Schaub’s 19:07 posting earned him 33rd place and was the last individual score factored into Sidney’s team score.
Sophomores Ryan Aurich and Logan Uhlir ran a 19:22 and a 20:51 for 43rd place and 88th place, respectively.
For the girls, freshman Chantal Riggs led the way with a time of 21:43 that placed her in sixth-place overall. Junior Erin Lindeman ran a 21:46 that earned her ninth place. Junior Preslie Allen registered a time of 21:59, coming in 13th overall. Junior Jami Flores, who made her Top 4 debut, finished at 22:12.
Freshman Charlie Brockaus ran a 22:!8, good enough for 19th. Senior Maddie Stafford came in at 22nd with a time of 22:34.
Juniors Abby Heller and Mia Hernandez came in 41st and 42nd with times of 23:29 and 23:28, respectively.
The Sidney teams will head back home for the conference invite to take place on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Deer Run Park.
