Red Raiders continue Top 3 placement streak, ready to head into Best of West Tourney
The Sidney High girls’ varsity golf team produced another impressive showing at the Alliance tournament on Saturday morning. Sidney finished second with a team score of 376 – its lowest of the season.
Scottsbluff won its fourth consecutive tournament, placing 14 strokes ahead of the Red Raiders. Scottsbluff’s Jordan York also won her fourth tournament in a row with a score of 76.
In order, Gering’s Sam Rahmig, Scottsbluff’s Hannah Holloway, Chadron’s Alpine Hickstein and Mitchell’s Myranda Musfelt rounded out the Top 5.
Sidney juniors Rachel Blauert and Megan Neal each shot a 90 and placed sixth and seventh, respectively, out of the 46 players. Senior Kaleigh Chavez completed her round with a 95. Senior Theda Parker shot a 101, while freshman Jordan Cook finished with a 103.
Sidney’s JV team also competed at the tournament and took first-place with a score of 451 – one stroke ahead of Scottsbluff’s JV squad. Freshman Emma Alexander blew away the field with a round of 95 – winning by nine strokes. Ogallala’s Brittney Heidemann took second.
Sidney junior Taylor Parsons shot a 113, good enough for fifth. Senior Alli Ehler recorded a 115 and freshman Emma Brosnan shot a 128. Freshman Dru Rowan was injured and did not qualify for a score.
The Sidney teams will play their final regular-season match Wednesday at the Best of the West Tournament in Gering. The action tees off at 9 a.m.
