Hayden Graham, the 16-year-old accused of texting while driving before he was involved in a fatal head-on collision in July, pleaded no contest Thursday afternoon to amended charges in Cheyenne County Court.
The Sidney High School student pleaded no contest to two charges during his first hearing on the amended petition. He entered no contest pleas to counts of driving while texting and driving on the wrong side of the road.
Graham had faced charges of motor vehicular homicide, careless driving, driving left of center, use of a hand-held wireless communication device while driving and use of a hand-held communication device in violation of a provisional operator’s permit.
Graham is accused of crossing the center line on Highway 30, about five miles east of Sidney, on July 31 and colliding with a car driven by 19-year-old Karman Reichman of Chappell. She died the following day.
A disposition hearing – similar to sentencing in adult court – is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. in Cheyenne County Court.
