Court Briefs 08-29-14

The following people appeared in Cheyenne County Court on Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, before the Hon. Randin Roland:

Brian Gray, age 29 of Sidney, appeared for entry of plea on a charge of DUI 1st high test, a class W misdemeanor. Pursuant to a plea agreement, he pled guilty to an amended charge of DUI 1st offense, a class W misdemeanor. The judge ordered a pre-sentence investigation report.

Dennis Charles, age 42 of Sidney, appeared for entry of plea on a charge of DUI 1st high test, a class W misdemeanor. A pre-trial conference has been set for Sept. 8.

Rachel Jacobs, age 26 of Sidney, appeared for a pre-trial conference on a charge of DUI 2nd, a class W misdemeanor. Pursuant to a plea agreement she pled guilty to an amended charge of DUI 1st and careless driving, a class W misdemeanor and an infraction. She received six months probation and a $500 fine.

Gary Vanatter Jr., age 26 of Sidney, appeared for a pre-trial conference on a charge of DUI 1st and chemical test refusal, both class W misdemeanors. Pursuant to a plea agreement he pled guilty to an amended charge of just DUI 1st, a class W misdemeanor. He received six months probation and a $500 fine.

David Kogl, age 56 of Sidney, appeared for a pre-trial conference on a charge of failing to report an accident, a class I misdemeanor. A fre-trial conference continued to Oct. 15.

Wade Rhodes, age 43 of Padroni, Colo., appeared for a pre-trial conference on a charge of theft by shoplifting, a class IV felony. Pursuant to a plea agreement he pled guilty to an amended charge of theft by shoplifting, a class I misdemeanor. He received eight days in jail.

Jessica Hotes, age 30 of Sidney, appeared for entry of plea on a charge of theft by shoplifting, a class II misdemeanor. Pursuant to a plea agreement she pled guilty to this charge. She received fines and restitution in the amount of $200.

Jose Rios, age 24 of Sidney, appeared for presentment on a charge of possession of meth, a class IV felony. He stated he would retain an attorney. Status of Counsel Hearing has been set for Sept. 5.

Bruce Cox, age 55 of Sidney, appeared for arraignment on a charge of DUI 1st, a class W misdemeanor. He pled guilty and received six months probation plus a $500 fine.
