Kenneth R. Henzl, 85 of Sidney, passed away at the Golden Living Center in Sidney on Monday, July 21, 2014.
Due to street construction at the funeral home, funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 24th in the Sidney Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Leonard Suhr officiating.
Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in Kenneth's name to the Sidney Night of Hope.

Kenneth R. Henzl, the son of Joe and Agnes (Skrdlant) Henzl, was born on June 7, 1929 south of Sunol, in Cheyenne County. He attended rural schools near Lodgepole and the Lodgepole Schools before returning to help at the family farm. Kenneth served in the United States Army before receiving his Honorable Discharge and returned to the farm. On Dec. 12, 1981, Kenneth was united in marriage to Barbara J. Baasch in Sidney. They made their home in Lodgepole and Kenneth managed his farm and cattle business until his health forced his retirement.
Kenneth loved animals of all kinds, was a longtime member of the Sidney Elks and will be remembered as a great Nebraska Football Fan.
Survivors include his wife: Barbara of Sidney; his step-children: Debra Kershaw and significant other Tony of Lexington, Ky .; Patrick Kershaw and wife Janet of Sidney; Kelly Durbin and husband Ted of Bushnell; Jamie Hajny and husband Tim of Fairfield, Neb. and Mike Kershaw and significant other Stevie of Dalton; (1) sister: Lillian Rood and husband Vernon of Sidney; (11) grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Helen Phelps.
