Anita Mae Hilkemeier

1944 to 2014

Anita Mae Hilkemeier, 69, of Colorado Springs, went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2014. Anita was born on Nov. 11, 1944 in Kimball to George and Doris (Scheele) Jackson. She graduated from Dix High School in Dix in May of 1962.

Anita was employed by the United States Treasury Department and retired in 1999 after 37 years of service. She was then employed by Ecumenical Social Ministries for eight years. She was president and treasurer of her church, a Cub Scouts leader and a “newspaper folder extraordinaire.” She enjoyed traveling, caring for others and volunteering. She also loved spending time with her family and friends.

Anita is survived by her loving husband, Lyle; sons: Lesten (Jennifer) of Rochester Hills, Mich., Larry of Security, Colo. and Lonnie (Teresa) of Boulder, Colo.; nine grandchildren: Thomas, Kayla, Chloe, Stefen, Breanna and Bryce Hilkemeier, Christopher and Anneliese Hartke and Jenessa (Chris) Williams as well as three great grandchildren: Avery, Ariella and Bristol. She is also survived by her brother, Bill Hotes and sister, Linda (Tom) Watson as well as many nieces and nephews. Anita was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Phillip.

Funeral services were held in Colorado Springs, Colo. and private interment took place at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colo..

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ecumenical Social Ministries, 201 North Weber Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 or Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
