The following people appeared in Cheyenne County District Court on Wednesday, June 4, before the Honorable Derek Weimer:
Christopher Nielsen, age 37 of Sidney, appeared for arraignment on a charge of Terroristic Threats and 3rd Degree Domestic Assault on a Pregnant Woman. Both are class IV Felonies. He pled not guilty. A pre-trial conference set for Aug. 12 at 9:30 a.m.
James Corne, age 25 of Sidney, appeared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of Terroristic Threats, a class IV felony. He waived the preliminary hearing and arraignment has been set.
Andrew Fairbanks, age 20 of Sidney, appeared for arraignment on a charge of Child Abuse, a class IIIA felony. He pled not guilty. His pre-trial conference is set for July 8 at 9:30 a.m.
Paige Lohman, age 24 of Sidney, appeared for a pre-trial conference on a charge of Theft, a class IV felony. The pre-trial conference has been continued to July 2 at 9:30 a.m.
Jason Assad, age 35 of Sidney, appeared for a status hearing on a charge of Terroristic Threats and Strangulation. Both are class IV felonies. A jury trial is set for July 31 and Aug. 1. The pre-trial conference is set for July 8 at 9 a.m.
Gabriel Portillo, age 37 of Potter, appeared for arraignment on a charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, a class ID felony. He pled not guilty. A jury trial has been set for Sept. 25 and 26. His pre-trial conference is set for Sept. 9 at 9:30 a.m.
David Lancaster, age 24 formerly of Sidney, now of Sterling, Colo., appeared for arraignment on a two count charge of Distributing Marijuana. Both are class III felonies. Pursuant to a plea agreement he pled guilty to amended charges of two class IV felonies. Sentencing is set for Aug. 12 at 10 a.m.
Kenneth Turner, age 25 of Pittsburgh, Pa., was excused, but his attorney appeared for a status hearing on charges of Possession of Marijuana with Intent, Possession of Hash with Intent, Possession of Hash. These are class III, III and IV felonies, respectively. Entry of plea has been scheduled for July 23 at 9 a.m.
Gabriel Nowak, age 31 of Pittsburgh, Pa. was excused, but his attorney appeared for a status hearing on the same charges as above, as well as Possession of Cocaine. These are class III, III, IVF and IV felonies, respectively. Entry of plea has been scheduled for July 23 at 9 a.m. It is a companion case to Turner's.
