Cool to be green

Caitlyn Deal kicks off the first meeting of the Cool Kids Club 4-H gardening project group. Deal and her brothers, Jeffrey and Zach, wrote a grant for their Junior Leader 4-H Club to start a community gardening project with a learning component. They teamed up with the Cool Kids Club. The group will meet weekly throughout the summer to learn about gardening and science. The project also developed into a new partnership between UNL Extension and the Cool Kids Club. CKC is the newest Cheyenne County 4-H Club with project groups exploring robotics, sewing and rabbits, in addition to gardening. Here Deal is assisted by 4-H Cool Kids Club members in preparing one of the gardening science experiments that the club is monitoring this summer.
