Court Briefs 06-04-14

The following person appeared in Deuel County Court on Friday, May 30, before the Honorable Randin Roland:

Nicholas Swenson, age 23 of Minneapolis, Minn., appeared for jury trial on a charge of Carrying a Concealed Weapon, a class I misdemeanor. The jury found him guilty. The parties proceeded straight to sentencing where the defendant received a fine of $1,000 plus court costs.

The following people appeared in Cheyenne County Court on Monday, June 2, before the Honorable Randin Roland:

William Lee, age 30 of Dalton, appeared for presentment on a two count charge of 1st Degree Sexual Assault. Both are class II felonies. He requested an attorney. A preliminary hearing is set for June 10 at 8:15 a.m.

Seth Turner, age 24 of Sidney, appeared for arraignment on a charge of DUI 1st Offense and No Insurance. These are class W and II misdemeanors, respectively. He requested an attorney. Entry of plea is set for June 9.

The following people appeared in Deuel County District Court on Monday, June 2, before the Honorable Derek Weimer:

Connor Stone, age 21 of Denver, Colo., appeared for arraignment on a charge of Possession of Hash, a class IV felony. He pled not guilty. A jury trial has been set for Aug. 13 at 9 a.m. The pre-trial conference is set for July 7 at 1:30 p.m.

David Reyes, age 18 of Arvada, Colo., appeared for a status hearing on a charge of Possession of Hash, a class IV Felony. The jury trial and conference are set for the same times as above.

Daniel Estrada Galvin, age 18 of Denver, Colo. appeared for a status hearing on a charge of Possession of Hash, also class IV Felony. His dates are the same as those set for Stone and Reyes.

Susan Woolery, age 54 of Big Springs, appeared for a status hearing on three charges of Distribution of Marijuana within 1000 feet of a Playground and three of Distribution of Vicodin within 1000 feet of a Playground. All are class II felonies. Pursuant to a plea agreement she pled no contest to Attempted Distribution of Marijuana, a class IV felony. The judge ordered a pre-sentence investigation report. Sentencing is set for Aug. 4 at 3:30 p.m.

The following people appeared in Deuel County Court on Tuesday, June 3, before the Honorable Randin Roland:

Austin Swartz, 19 of Celina, Ohio, appeared for a preliminary hearing on charges of Possession of Marijuana with Intent, Possession of Hash with Intent, Possession of Marijuana over 1 pound, Possession of Hash and No Drug Tax Stamps. These are class III, III, IV, IV and IV felonies, respectively. He waived the preliminary hearing. Arraignment is set for July 7 at 1:30 p.m.

Trevor Kriegel, age 19 of Celina, Ohio appeared for a preliminary hearing on the same charges as above. He also waived the preliminary hearing and will be arraigned at the same time as Swartz.

The following people appeared in Cheyenne County Court on Tuesday, June 3, before the Honorable Randin Roland:

Christopher Nielsen, age 37 of Sidney, appeared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of Terroristic Threats and 3rd Degree Domestic Assault on a Pregnant Woman. Both are class IV felonies. He waived the preliminary hearing and arraignment has been set for June 4 at 8:30 a.m.

James Corne, age 25 of Sidney, appeared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of Terroristic Threats, a class IV felony. He waived the preliminary hearing and arraignment has been set for June 4 at 8:30 a.m.
