Serving proudly since 1873 as the beautiful Nebraska Panhandle's first newspaper
I would like to express my appreciation to the school and community for their interest and attention to the wildlife presentation in Mrs. Roach’s 4th grade class. The students were academically savy with Google search, and the transmission of data.
Mrs. Roach has taught them very well.
I was taken aback when Mr. Ehler (1,200 students to manage...), the counselor, and music teacher appeared. The room was packed when the parents came.
The exposure to nature and wildlife is so valuable in our travels through life and the books these children created gives them insight and a comfort zone with the natural world. What terrific kids, teachers, parents and community.
I hope you also know how important your town is to the rest of the world. I was fortunate enough to be invited to the Cabela holiday party the past two years as a guest of my friend Dave Holt who has been friends with the Cabelas for many years. It was a pleasure to meet the people who have lived and thrived among Sidney folks. America lost a hero with his passing. So many of us have stopped in Sidney over the years to get our gear and supplies-- it was a 50 year trip down memory lane for me to again walk through the store.
The image of Sidney was the big bronze elk out front-- until I met your children. You have a beautiful and vibrant community-- protect it fiercely! I am humbly grateful to participate in a small way.
