Court Briefs 05-20-14

The following person appeared in Cheyenne County District Court on Monday, May 19, before the Honorable Derek Weimer:

Kameron Walker, age 21 of Sidney, appeared for sentencing on an amended charge of Possession of Hydrocodone, a class IV Felony. He received 17 days jail, 60 months probation and waiverable jail time.

The following people appeared in Deuel County Court on Thursday, May 15, before the Honorable Randin Roland:

Michael Vernon, age 47 of Valentine, appeared for arraignment on a charge of DUI 1st Offense, Chemical Test Refusal and Failure to Appear on a Citation. These are class W, W and II misdemeanors. Entry of plea has been scheduled for June 19.

Richard Hatton age 54 of Loveland, Colo., appeared for a status hearing on a charge of DUI 2nd, a class W misdemeanor. A status hearing is set for June 19.

Sandy Paiz, age 54 of Ovid, Colo., appeared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of DUI 3rd Offense and Chem Test Refusal. These are class IIIA felony and I misdemeanors, respectively. Her preliminary hearing has been continued.

Omowunmi Morakinyo, age 34 of Madison, Wis., appeared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of Possession of Hash, a class IV felony. She waived her preliminary hearing and arraignment has been set for June 5 at 1:30 p.m.

Erick Sickenger, age 39 of Albert Lea, Minn., appeared for entry of plea on a charge of DUI-Drugs, a class W misdemeanor. Pursuant to a plea agreement he pled guilty to an amended charge of Under the Influence of a Drug and Careless Driving. The charges are a class III misdemeanor and an infraction. He received a $500 fine.

Jennifer Aufdengarten, age 28 of Ogalalla, appeared for presentment on a charge of Writing a Bad Check, which is a class IV felony. Her preliminary hearing has been set for May 20 at 9:30 a.m.

Maradona Niravong, age 24 of Aurora, Ill., appeared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of Possession of Hash with Intent, Possession of Hash and No Drug Tax Stamps. These are class III, IV and IV felonies, respectively. Arraignment is set for July 7 at 1:30 p.m.

The following people appeared in Cheyenne County Court on Friday, May 16, before the Honorable Randin Roland:

Rene Monterossa, age 19 of Norfolk, appeared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of Possession of Meth, a class IV felony. Pursuant to a plea agreement she pled guilty to an amended charge of Attempted Possession of Meth, a class I misdemeanor, and received 7 days in jail.

Jason Assad, age 35 of Sidney, appeared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of Terroristic Threats and Strangulation. Both are class IV felonies. The case was bound over to District Court for Arraignment.

Joseph Stoltenberg, age 20 of Sterling, Colo., appeared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of Possession of Meth, a class IV felony. Pursuant to a plea agreement he pled guilty to an amended charge of Attempted Possession of Meth, a class I misdemeanor. He received 9 days in jail.

Andrew Fairbanks, age 20 of Sidney, appeared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of Child Abuse, a class IIIA felony. He waived the preliminary hearing and arraignment has been scheduled for June 4 at 8:30 a.m.

Jason Assad, age 35 of Sidney, NE appeared for arraignment on a charge of Terroristic Threats and Strangulation, class IV felonies. A status hearing has been scheduled for June 4 at 10 a.m.
