Tora J. Payton, 66 of Lodgepole, passed away Tuesday evening April 15, 2014 at the Porter Adventis Hospital in Denver, Colo.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m., Mon., April 28th in the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Lodgepole with Brenda Tophoj P.M.A. Intern and Pastor Leonard Suhr officiating. Inurnment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery at a later date. Cremation has been held. Friends may send condolences in care of the family.

Tora Jane Payton, the daughter of Arthur Harry and Genevieve Effie "Jean" (Pace) Peters, was born on Jan. 22, 1948 in Sidney. She attended the Lodgepole Schools before enrolling in Nursing School in Lincoln. On May 1, 1970 Tora was united in marriage to Clisby Ezra "Dusty" Payton Jr. in Lincoln.
Tora enjoyed reading and sewing but devoted her life to caring for her friends and family.
Survivors include her husband: Dusty of Lodgepole; (1) daughter: Heidi Payton-Holstein of Lodgepole; (6) sons: Charles and wife Jenny of Sidney, Dusty and wife Teri of Chappell, John and James of Rapid City, SD and Peter and William of Lodgepole; (10) grandchildren: Jesse, Seth, Kelsey, Allison, Phillip, Shelby, Nicholas, Grace, Lily and Johnny; (1) brother: Ed Peters and wife Roberta of Gurley; her uncle: Edgar Peters of Lodgepole and an aunt: Sue Joyce and husband Buck of Florida and many extended family members and friends.
Tora was preceded in death by her parents, her parents-in-law: Barbara and Clisby Payton Sr. and an infant daughter: Maria.
