Doris Ann (Helzer) Spearow, 89, a resident of Sidney for over seventy years, died early Monday morning, April 7, 2014 at Sloan Estates in Sidney.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 11, 2014 in the First United Methodist Church in Sidney with the Rev. Thomas G. Hyde officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established to the First United Methodist Church or Sloan Estates.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday at the Holechek Funeral Home.

Doris was born on March 21, 1925 at Scottsbluff to John and Katie (Deines) Helzer. She was one of five children. She attended school at Scottsbluff, Kimball, and Mitchell before graduating from Sidney High School. She attended college at the University of Wyoming and returned to Sidney.
Doris married Merle Spearow on April 6, 1947 in Sidney where they made their home and raised three daughters. Doris worked for Health and Human Services before she and Merle owned and operated Osage Grocery from 1966 to 1983. She was the parish worker for the First United Methodist Church until 1995. After retiring, she lived at home for many years and enjoyed playing cards, reading and helping friends. In 2011, she moved to Sloan Estates.
Doris was a member of the First United Methodist Church, P.E.O. Chapter FR, Eastern Star, and United Methodist Women. She was a loving and caring mother and will be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Jamie (Harvey) Humphrey of Lincoln; Sandra (John) White of Sidney; and Diana Woodill of North Platte. Eight grandchildren: Todd (Mandi) Wright, Laurie (Phil) Janulewicz, Shawn (Megan) Wright, Chris White (Misty), Valerie (Nathan) Eide, Sarah (Josh) Catlett, Jessica (Quinn) Small, and Michelle Woodill; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Merle Spearow; her parents John and Katie Helzer; her brothers Harry Helzer and Bob Helzer, and her sisters Wilma Moore and Mildred Bree.
Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations in Sidney is serving the Spearow family.
