Ofelia S. Chacón, 87 of Sidney, passed away at the Golden Living Center, Saturday morning, March 29, 2014.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Sat., April 5th in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Father Art Faesser officiating. No Wake services are planned. Services will conclude at the Church. Cremation will follow the services with graveside inurnment in the Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel Friday, April 4th from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Ofelia Silva Chacón, the daughter of Delfino and Juana (Campos) Silva was born on November 28, 1926, in Mercedes, TX. Ofelia learned from an early age what working hard meant and provided for her family. She was a dedicated worker in the fields and was a waitress at the MER-TEX Restaurant and even had a small part in a movie centered around the restaurant. She raised her children to be strong by example and always had wisdom to pass down to them. Friends and family knew Ofelia as a warm and kind-hearted soul. She was a compassionate woman who gave love and care unconditionally and without measure. Ofelia resided in Mercedes, TX before moving to be near her sister, Josefina Flores in Sidney, NE where she lived the last twenty years.
Ofelia is survived by her children: Manuel Chacón (Jo), Hector Chacón (Sharon), Eddie Chacon and Nellie Delia Campos Chacón; sister: Mela Garza; (12) grandchildren, (8) great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Ofelia was preceded in death by her parents, (1) sister: Josefina Flores, ex-husband: Manuel Chacón, Sr. and cousins: Aida Campos and Oralia Campos.
