Court Briefs – 03-10-14

The following person appeared in Deuel County District Court on Friday, March 7, before the Honorable Derek Weimer:

Louis Smith, age 33 of St. Louis, Mo., appeared for a suppression hearing on charges of Possession of Marijuana with Intent, Possession of Marijuana over a pound and No drug tax stamps. The charges are class III, IV and IV felonies, respectively. Pursuant to a plea agreement he pled no contest to an amended charge of Possession of Marijuana over a pound and Attempted Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Deliver/Distribute. Both are class IV felonies. Sentencing is scheduled for May 7 at 2:30 p.m.

The following person appeared in Cheyenne County Court on Friday, March 7, before the Honorable Randin R. Roland:

Kevin Pierce, age 27 of Sidney, appeared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of Possession of Hash, a class IV felony. Pursuant to a plea agreement he pled guilty to an amended charge of Attempted Possession of Hash, which is a class I misdemeanor. He received fines totaling $800 and 18 months probation.
