Vorachit Luexayachak, 40 of Iowa, was sentenced in Deuel County District Court last week for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver or distribute, a class three felony and operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, a class four felony. Judge Derek Weimer sentenced Luexayachak to 48-72 months incarceration.
Luexayachak took Nebraska State patrol on a 40 mile chase through Cheyenne and Deuel counties in November of last year. This chase ended in his arrest and the discovery of almost 60 pounds of marijuana in his possession.
When a Nebraska State trooper was on patrol last November, he observed that Luexayachak, who was traveling on Interstate 80, was driving erratically. The Trooper attempted to pull the car over. That is when a chase ensued.
Luexayachak failed to stay in one lane, according to an arrest affidavit. At times he drove down the center of the interstate, according to the report. The suspect was soon traveling at 110 miles per hour.
Although the Nebraska State Patrol said it could not speculate as to whether or not anyone was in danger during the chase, the arrest affidavit indicated that Luexayachack’s vehicle nearly hit many other cars traveling on Interstate 80. The suspect would reportedly weave back to the center of the two lanes after passing a car, without signaling, while still traveling at 110 mph.
The driver then allegedly shut off his headlight and tail lights in an attempt to lose the trooper.
Luexayachak was stopped in Deuel county with the help of tire deflation devices.
After arresting Luexayachack, law enforcement discovered four large suitcases in the trunk of the vehicle he was driving which contained around 58 pounds of marijuana. Law enforcement also discovered that Luexayachack had an active warrant out for his arrest and that his license was suspended.
