Creek Valley wrestler Mason Low won three of his four matches at the Southwest Invite on Saturday to capture third place in the 195 lbs. class.
Low, who picked up 16 points for the Storm, pinned three opponents to increase his season match record to 12-10. Gage Koenen, who was wrestling in a meet for just the second time this year, dropped three matches to finish fourth at 220 lbs.
Low won his first match of the day by pinning Franklin’s Jon Berry in 1:58. Low then found the going tough against Dundy County-Stratton’s Trevor Jensen, who has amassed a record of 34-1 this season.
Jensen stopped Low by a fall at 3:09.
In the consolation semi-final match Low recovered, taking just 42 seconds to pin Devon Wilkerson of Red Cloud/Blue Hill. In the third-place match Low pinned Jon Berry of Franklin in 2:15.
The Storm’s next assignment will take the team to North Platte St. Patricks and the district tournament.
