Students at Sidney High School involved with Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) are raising money for the Night of Hope Foundation by selling tee shirts. Not just any shirts, but specially designed pink tees.
Last Friday the FCCLA set up a booth during the Sidney basketball games with Chadron to take orders for the Pink Out shirts. Order forms are available for anyone interested in purchasing a tee shirt to beneifit local cancer patients.
The shirts will be available until Feb. 10. On Feb. 15, a check will be presented to the Night of Hope Foundation at the Raiders basketball games with Mitchell.
The shirts are $15 and come in a wide variety of sizes.
"Generally our group likes to focus on community projects," said FCCLA Advisor Micahla Beyer. "With so many people we know who have cancer this seemed like a very worthwhile projct."
All procedes for the tee-shirt sales will go to Night of Hope. Ninety percent of what the Foundation receives goes to locals who are being treated for all variety of cancer. The remainder goes to the Epply Cancer Research Center in Omaha.
The signature fundraising event for Night of Hope each year is the Walk for Cancer around the pond at Legion Park. This year the Walk is scheduled for Aug. 8.
For anyone interested in buying a shirt, getting an order form or learning more about the fundraiser you can call Micahla Beyer at 250-1656. Order forms can be returned to 925 Illinois St., or the High School Office. Please make checks payable to Sidney Public Schools.
