RYLA Camp applications now being accepted

The Sidney Rotary Club announces that it is now accepting applications for one of the state’s most highly acclaimed summer camps, the Rotary Youth Leadership Award Camp. Available for students who are currently sophomores or juniors or of that age group. The Co-ed RYLA Camp will be held July 20th and end July 25th.

Known as Great Plains RYLA and sponsored by Rotary District 5630 for over two decades, attendees stay at the Halsey 4-H camp for six days. The Sidney Rotary Club will underwrite their tuition, room and board, and provide transportation. While there, they will meet many community and business leaders from around the state who will talk and converse about their experiences, emphasizing the importance and responsibility of leadership. The camp will impart valuable leadership skill through various programs and events that will be helpful to attendees as they move forward in their scholastic and individual carriers.

Each candidate is required to complete an online application by answering questions and providing information about the qualities that they possess, which they feel will further qualify them for consideration of the Great Plains RYLA Camp award.

A meeting is scheduled in the Sidney High School Guidance office on Thurs., Jan. 30th at 11:50 a.m. for anyone interested and to ask last year’s participants questions about their experiences.

Once all applications are received, candidates will be interviewed at a time and date to be determined.

Applications are made online only at http://www.greatplainsryla.org by following the “Apply Now!” link under the “Student” tab and must be completed by Feb. 28th.

For questions or inquiries, applicants may contact Greg Scripp at 254-7275 during business hours or 254-3998 after hours.
