Tigers drop Creek Valley

While visiting Creek Valley stayed with the more experienced Paxton squad during stretches last night, the Tigers (10-1) ultimately wore down the Storm 66-44 in a non-district boys basketball game.

“We played a very good first 10 minutes and then the game kind of got away from us,” said Storm Head Coach Roger Behrends. “Their inside game took over. We competed hard and the kids keep getting better.”

Sophomore Colin Brott had a strong all-around performance as he led the Storm in scoring (15 points) and rebounds (9). Lane Godfrey added 13 points while the Storm’s other starting freshman guard Maverick Widdowson had 11.

Lane Godfrey also had a team high 3 steals and 5 assists.

Again the Storm (2-8) were without the services of one of their starting freshmen guards Brett Godfrey.

Godfrey, the team’s second leading scorer, has been out since he sustained an ankle injury early this month. Though not yet cleared by doctors it is hoped Godfrey can be ready in time for the MAC Tournament, which begins on Tuesday.

On Tuesday the boys team open their MAC competition in Oshkosh, where they face Garden County at 5:30 p.m.
