Sidney Middle/Senior High School students of the month named

Recognized for the December Performance Awards are:

7th Grade: Tiara Ginther

The 7th Grade Sidney Middle School student of the month for December is Tiara Ginther. She is the daughter of Rodney and Alicia Ginther. Ginther is a very responsible student, she completes daily homework, demonstrates appropriate behaviors in the classroom and outside the classroom. She is always willing to help others, and comes to school with a smile on her face ready to learn. Ginther enjoys participating in outside activities such as golf, bike riding, and fishing with her family. When she grows up she wants to move to Washington to take pictures of the mountains or of nature.

8th Grade: Derek Robb

The Sidney Middle School 8th grade teachers are proud to announce Derek Robb as the December Student of the Month. He has shown extreme maturity and compassion towards fellow students at Sidney Middle School by his willingness to actively engage in activities and conversations with all levels of students. Robb is to be commended for his outstanding work ethic, leadership, and encouragement of others. He has continued to show outstanding academic progress and has maintained his grades while being involved in many extracurricular activities. It is for these reasons that teachers feel Robb is an excellent choice for this award. He is the son of Charles and Angie Robb.

9th Grade: Abbey Mills

Mills has been selected as freshman student of the month for her academic performance, classroom effort, and positive attitude. She has done an outstanding job of getting her work turned in and she really cares about the quality of her work. She is a member of Student Council, and also participates in volleyball, basketball, and track. In her spare time she enjoys playing softball, watching movies, and hanging out with friends and family. Her future plans are to attend CSU and earn a degree in sociology. Her dreams are to be a social worker or even a counselor to make a difference in someone’s life. Mills is the daughter of Ramsey and Stacey Mills

10th Grade: Brenner Keane

Keane was selected as Sidney High School’s student of the month for his classroom effort, attitude, and academic performance. He set a goal to improve his grade in Geometry, communicated with his teacher, and has worked very hard to reach it.

He fills his spare time playing some kind of sports, mainly basketball at the community center. In school he participates in cross country, basketball and track. He would like to attend college someday and continue his athletic career.

Keane is the son of Pat and Sharrell Keane

11th Grade: Joseph Tomsick

Tomsick was nominated because of his classroom effort and attitude, academic performance and leadership. He is always striving for excellence, and does what is asked of him and more. He is a good student and is always pleasant and respectful. Keane is very dedicated to his role as a member of the SRTV team. He attends numerous athletic events and operates the cameras that let Raiders families from near and far enjoy the games. He is also very active teaching and training in martial arts, and is the state champion in Colorado and Nebraska for Tae Kwondo. Besides SRTV and martial arts, Keane is also learning how to play the guitar. His future plans are to attend South Dakota State and start his own business developing software for companies and hopefully have his own martial arts school. He is the son of Dennis and Mary Beth Tomsick.

12th Grade: Michael Sukup

Sukup is the senior student of the month. He was selected because of his academic excellence, and classroom effort. He always works very hard in class and in the lab. When asked to do anything, he always completes the task given to him. He is a responsible and conscientious student. Sukup played football and is a member of Skills USA. When not working at 21st Century, he enjoys watching football, and bowling. He plans on attending college after graduation to become a technician for 21st Century.

Sukup is the son of Todd and Robin Sukup.

The Month Performance Award program affords the opportunity to recognize students for reasons other than outstanding scholastic achievement. Sidney’s middle and high school wants to recognize and award scholastic achievement.

The Monthly Performance Award acknowledges other criteria as well as achievement. These criteria are:

1. Superior academic performance, (or), dramatic improvement of classroom work, G.P.A. or attitude toward learning.

2. Exceptional work effort toward a particular class project.

3. Outstanding Contribution to the class.

4. Leadership exhibited in the class/school.

5. Citizenship emphasized and modeled.

6. Service to school.
