After a solid first half in which the Creek Valley boys basketball team trailed by only 6 points against undefeated Minatare, the Indians pulled away with a strong second half to topple the Storm 58-34.
The win advances the Indians record to 6-0 while Creek Valley dipped to 2-7.
“We played a very good first half again being only down by six,” said Storm Head Coach Roger Behrends. “We are not coming out of the half with any intensity. We will get better.”
Lane Godfrey, the Storm’s lone senior, led the team in scoring with 15 points. Colin Brott chipped in with 9 points and Maverick Widdowson had 5. Creek Valley’s second leading scorer, freshman Brett Godfrey, remained sidelined with an injury he sustained at Haxtun on Jan. 3.
Lane Godfrey and Dane McConnell had 7 rebounds each, while Brott and Wyatt McMillen had 6 apiece.
The Storm will try to rebound against at Haxtun on Thursday. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
