Grade school kids learn what makes a computer program run
December 9-15 is Computer Science Education Week nationwide. Judy Roach's fourth-graders at Central Elementary School participated in the Hour of Code program on Wednesday.
The Hour of Code program allowed students to get onto csedweek.org and play some games to learn about computer coding.
On the website, kids get to view encouraging messages from people like Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates. Participants in the Hour of Code get to play games such as Angry Birds to learn how coding plays a role in their favorite apps and games, and the opportunities that can come from pursuing an interest in programming.
Roach's class had a blast viewing the tutorials, playing games and hearing from several famous people about the matter.
