World War II veteran Dewayne Phelps, 95 of Sidney, died Thursday morning, December 5, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Sidney.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wed., Dec. 11, 2013 in the Trinity Lutheran Church, South Divide south of Sidney with Pastor Daniel Larson officiating. Burial will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery with military rites.
Memorials have been established to Trinity Lutheran Church, South Divide.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.

Dewayne David Phelps, the son of David B. and Emma M. (Michaelis) Phelps was born Oct. 25, 1918 in Johnson, Neb. He enlisted in the U.S Army Corp in Dec. of 1942 and served three years in North Africa.
He married Helen Henzl on June 6, 1949 and farmed east of Peetz, Colo. for most of his life.
Dewayne was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and will always be remembered for his quick wit and kind word.
Survivors include his four children: Sandra Phelps of Bridgeport, Gary Phelps and his wife Sheila of Peetz, Sharon Schilz of Las Vegas, Nev. and Glenna Phelps Aurich of Sidney; 11 Grandchildren: Stacy, Monica, Michelle, Heather, Holly, Derek, Shanna, Jessica, Nathan, Jeremy and Brady and 7 Great-grandchildren: Emma, Sadies, Chance, Jamie, Emerson, Kendra and Cody.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen; 3 brothers: Elmer, Chet and Howard; 2 sisters Violet and Laura and one grandson Sean Schilz.
Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations in Sidney is serving the Phelps family.
