The Cheyenne County Board of Commissioners held the first December meeting on Monday, approving one funding resolution and postponing another.
County Treasurer Diane Scott appeared before the Board to urge a yes vote on a resolution authorizing her to transfer money to the County Road/Bridge Fund to provide adequate finances.
“We always have a resolution, but I did ask that it be changed a little bit this year,” Scott said. “What we’ve always done is I transfer half of the December collections on December 31. Through the end of the month, I transfer half of the funds to the road fund, whatever was allowed for the budget. The second half payment, I always do at the end of April.”
The resolution in question lists specific dates that Scott would have to have the transfers done by, and the amount is half of what was budgeted for on each transfer.
“All of our tax dollars for the county are basically through county general, and so I transfer to road so they have funds to operate on,” Scott said.
The resolution was approved with a vote of two to zero.
Emergency Management Coordinator, Ron Leal, appeared for the second meeting in a row to request Keno Funds to purchase radios, but the board postponed once again until board member, Harold Winkelman, returns from being hospitalized.
County Highway Superintendent, Tom Noel, reported an update on road activities.
Roads, 17A and 111 have been striped at a cost of about $8,000.
Noel added 63 tons to be paid for out of the oil allotment because the intersection at 109 is so steep and complicated to keep, it had to be paved out a ways.
