With the final going overtime, the Potter-Dix Coyotes volleyball team lost a tough five-set match to the South Platte Blue Knights in a non-district matchup Tuesday night.
On South Platte's (6-5) home ground, the Coyotes (4-9) were felled 25-15, 16-25, 25-23, 18-25 and 15-17.
"This was a close match the entire night," said Potter-Dix Head Coach Kristi Jung. "We had our opportunities, we just couldn't seem to put them away. In the end it was their defensive play that gave them the edge."
Ryley HIcks had a strong service game as the Coyotes scored 11 points with her on the line. She made only one error in 22 serve attempts. Regyn Hicks made no errors in 15 serves and the team scored eight points with her at the line.
Alexus Rozelle and Morgan Wolff were a strong duo at the net with 13 and 12 kills respectively. Regyn Hicks slammed home 10 kills. Ryley Hicks assisted on 33 Coyote points.
Defensively, Dawson Sharman and Wolff were the dig leaders with 15 and 13. Rozelle and Kinley Vowers were also busy on defense with 10 and nine digs.
Potter-Dix travels to Chappell to take on a tough district foe in Creek Valley on Thursday. The match is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
