Cabela's announces plans for four new stores

Company reports dramatic increase in net income for quarter

Cabela's continues to grow at an exponential rate. On Thursday, the Sidney based corporation announced plans for four additional new stores in 2014. Cabela's is scheduled to open two new stores in Georgia, one in Montana and one in Ontario, Canada. The Acworth, Ga. location will span 100,000 square feet and will employ around 200 people. The store in Augusta, Ga. will be 42,000 square feet and will employ around 90 people. "We are thrilled to bring Cabela's to a state with such a great outdoor tradition," said Cabela's CEO Tommy Millner in a press statement. The Augusta and Acworth stores are Cabela's first in Georgia."Cabela's is very excited about our two Georgia locations," Millner continued in the statement. "Georgia is full of outdoorsmen and women who have supported our catalog and website for years."The new store in Missoula, Mont. will be Cabela's third in the state and will open in summer 2014, it will also employ 90 people. "The support from out loyal customers in Billings, along with the growing excitement about our recent announcement to open a store in Kalispell made it an easy decision to extend the Cabela'a retail footprint to Missoula," Millner said. The 70,000 square foot store in Barrie, Ontario, Canada will employ around 200 people and is set to open in summer 2014. "I can't say enough about Canada," Millner said. "It's a Cabela's kind of place." Cabela's currently operates 45 stores in North America and plans to open 19 more stores in the next two years. Cabela's reported its financial results for the second fiscal quarter of 2013 on Thursday aswell. In this quarter, the corporation's total revenue increased 20.7 percent to $756.8 million. Also this quarter, net income increased 31.5 percent to $44.5 million compared to $33.9 million in the same quarter a year ago.

"This strong showing reflects excellent performance by our next-generation stores and our omni-channel marketing efforts," Millner observed. Direct revenue also increased this quarter 13.7 percent, to $180.1 million—the third consecutive quarter the company has experienced an increase."We have made substantial progress in improving our Direct business with more improvements to come," Millner explained. "Our retail stores are performing at very highlevels, and our direct business is showing continued improvement."
