Patricia Brogan

Patricia "Pat" Brogan, 88, of Aurora, Colo., and formerly of Keystone, Nebr., died Thursday, June 20, 2013 in her home.

Pat was born December 4, 1924, in North Platte, Nebr., the daughter of Michael and Genevieve (Backes) Murray.

She was raised in Cheyenne, Wyo. and attended St. Mary's High School for three years. Pat transferred to St. Patricks High School in Sidney, graduating in May 1942. She met Bernard Brogan in Sidney and they were married on Shoemaker Naval Base in California in 1945 before he went overseas during WWII.

She attended college for one year and was employed in the Department of Internal Revenue office in Cheyenne for several years. After Bernard was discharged from the Navy in 1946, the couple moved to the Brogan Ranch east of Keystone where they raised their family. Pat helped with much of the ranch work and in 1969 began employment as a part time Field Representative for the Nebraska Agricultural Statistics Association, a position she held for more than 37 years. She retired at the age of 81.

Pat helped in the 4-H program when her children were young and was a member of the Ogallala St. Lukes Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, the Heart Association, and the Cancer Society.

In August 2006 Pat moved to Aurora, Colo. to be near her daughter and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church and the Neighborhood Ambassadors group.

Her hobbies included traveling, gardening, reading, and volunteering. She especially enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

Preceding her in death was her husband Bernard in 2000, son Patrick J. Brogan in 1991, sister Genevieve Kisicki in 2004, one infant granddaughter Theresa Jo Brogan and two infant great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children: Bernadette and her husband Dr. George Mohatt of Sheridan, Wyo., Colleen Brogan of Aurora, Colo., and Michael Brogan of Henderson, Nev. Daughter-in-law Karen Brogan Chandler of Keystone. Three Brothers-in-law Raymond Kisicki of Cheyenne, Wyo .; Ed Robinson of Seattle, Wash .; and Vince Boryla of Denver, Colo. Four Grandchildren: Dennis (Lisa) Mohatt of Buffalo, NY .; Katie Mohatt and her husband Dan Keeler of Girdwood, Alaska; John Brogan of Aurora, Colo; and Amy (David) Adams of Aurora, Colo. Also five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family chose cremation. The Rosary Service will be Monday, July 15, at 10:30 a.m. in the Ogallala St. Luke's Catholic Church, followed by the Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Father Steve Deaver will be the Celebrant.
