Rosie M. Lewis

Rosie M. Lewis, age 73 of Sidney, passed away at Sidney Regional Medical Center, Thursday morning, May 30, 2013.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 5th in the Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Kelvin Boltjes officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Chappell Cemetery.

Cremation has been held. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Tuesday to sign Rosie’s register book and drop off condolences for the family.

A memorial is being established.

Rosie Mae Lewis, the daughter of Henry and Esther Agnes (Case) Schoenholtz, was born on October 25, 1939 at Batesland, SD. She attended school in South Dakota and Bayard, NE before attending Beauty School in Scottsbluff. On November 3, 1954 Rosie was united in marriage to Melvin J. Sick at Tucumcari, NM. He passed away on May 7, 1958. On June 17, 1963 she married James B. Lewis at Reno, NV.

Rosie worked for Home Health Services in Colorado, Wyoming, Texas and for the O.H.D. men’s and women’s homes in Sidney, and also worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Sidney. Rosie was a baptized member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include (1) son: Douglas Sick and wife Alice of Sidney; (1) daughter: Cheri Lee Sanders of Dalton, NE; (3) grandsons: Shane Sick and wife Jessica of Sidney, Shawn Sick and wife Megan of Boise, ID and Adrian Paxton of North Platte, NE; (1) granddaughter: Jennifer Serkiz and husband Joe of Plattsmouth, NE; (1) great-granddaughter; (3) great-grandsons; (4) sisters: Elnora Miller of Riverton, WY, Mildred Butcher of Sidney, Pauline Kahrs and husband Ernest of Lodgepole, NE and Charlotte Brown of Bridgeport and many nieces, nephews and extended family members

Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, (2) husbands: Melvin Sick and James Lewis, (1) brother: Henry Schoenholtz, (1) sister: Mary Knapp, (2) nephews and an infant grandson.
