Gold Rush Days schedule set

The Tenth Annual Gold Rush Days weekend begins on Friday, June 7 at Legion Park with a campfire kick-off at 5:00 p.m.

People are encouraged to bring marshmallows and hot dogs to roast around the campfire.

At 5:30, re-enactments will begin with the Colorado Trailblazers followed by entertainment by the Carr Family Cowboy Band. At 7:00, Way out West presents “Blazing Guns at Roaring Gulch.” The Sidney Chamber’s 5K run will begin at 8:00.

The rest of Friday evening will be filled with storytelling and more cooking out around the campfire.

Saturday’s events begin with a breakfast of biscuits and gravy, eggs and coffee or juice at 7:30 a.m. (free with the Gold Rush Days button). At 8:00 the National Anthem will be performed to kick-off the celebration.

At 8:15 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Gordy Wilkins will be telling tales of Sidney’s Gold Rush. The Aspen County Band can be heard at 8:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m.

The Colorado Trailblazers will be performing at 9:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. and The Carr Family Cowboy Band can be at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Platte Valley Skunk Runners will perform at 11:15 a.m. and at 3:00 p.m. and you may enjoy the City of Sidney Community Band at Noon. Jim Gerhold will take the stage at 3:45 p.m.

Don’t forget to check out the costume contest at 2:00 p.m. and a performance of “Blazing Guns at Roaring Gulch” by Way out West at 6:00 p.m.

Throughout Saturday, all attendees may enjoy things, activities and demonstrations such as gun fights, delicious food, gold panning, craft vendors, a frontiers village, children’s games, log cutting, cannon firings, a horseshoe tournament, giveaways and old-time amusements.

Admission to Gold Rush Days is free.
