Douglas (Doug) Brauer, age 74, of Sidney, Nebraska, passed away on May 10, 2013 in Fort Collins, Colorado after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Interment was held privately on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1424 Maple Street in Sidney. Pastor Bradley Heinecke will officiate.
Douglas R. Brauer was born May 8, 1939 in Brush, Colorado to Ewald and Genevieve Brauer. Doug grew up on a farm near Peetz, was a 1957 graduate of Peetz High School, attended Northeastern Junior College, and received a degree in Business Administration at Denver University in 1961, and thus began an interesting business career as a consultant, accountant, and comptroller providing services for various projects and companies throughout the United States.
Doug enjoyed being an athlete playing basketball and a pitcher for baseball, being a caregiver for his mom, spending time at the family farm, and being with family and friends.
He is survived by his sister, Barb (Jim) Slattenow of Fort Collins; a niece, Nicole (Ellick) Johnson of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; a nephew, Brett Slattenow of Fort Collins; and great-nephew and great-niece, Zander and Amelia Johnson.
