Bennetta M. Light, 86, of Sidney, passed away at Sidney Regional Medical Center Extended Care on Wednesday evening, May 8, 2013.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 14, in the Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Leonard Suhr officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Monday from 1 to 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bennetta’s name to Sidney Regional Medical Center Hospice.

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel and Cremation Service LLC is in charge of Bennetta’s care and funeral arrangements.

Bennetta Maxine Light, the daughter of Ben and May (Heater) Allen, was born on Aug. 18, 1926, at Sabetha, Kan. She attended the Great Bend, Kan., Schools and moved to Sidney in 1959. She worked for many years at the Yendis Café where she was famous for her cinnamon rolls. Bennetta also worked for a time at the Country Kettle. She enjoyed baking and will be remembered as a very hard worker.

Survivors include her children, Mike Light and wife Dottie of Houston, Brenda Heckman of Sidney, Charlie Light and wife Cecilia of Lincoln, LeaAnn Webster and husband Mark of Tulsa, and Marty Light and wife Carrie Ann of Austin; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many extended family members.

Bennetta was preceded in death by her parents; one son, David Light; one brother, Ned Allen; and five sisters, Nova, Johann, Juanita and twins, Vera and Verna.
