Godfrey drives Creek Valley to Storm Invite win

Powered by his personal-best tournament score, Lane Godfrey of Creek Vally finished fifth in the Storm Invitational Golf Tournament yesterday at the Chappel Golf Club.

Kyle Gorsuch of Potter-Dix shaved 16 strokes off his most recent tournament score to finish seventh with an 83.

“I was just happy were were able to play with decent weather when worse was expected,” said Creek Valley head coach Cyd Hanson.

Overall host Creek Valley finished eighth with a 401 total. Bayard, with 344, won the tournament by edging out Perkins County by a stroke and Bridgeport by two. Austin Thelander won the individual honors with a 79.

Other competitors for Creek Valley included Cory Phillips (99), Wyatt McMillen (110), Logan Criswell (111) and Colin Brott.

“We improved our score team score over our last tournament and Wyatt and Colin had their best scores to date so I’m very pleased,” said Hanson.

In addition to Gorsuch, Sam Bogert shot 105 for Potter-Dix which did not field enough golfers to earn a team score.

Creek Valley and Potter-Dix are scheduled to be at Kimball tomorrow.
