May 1 through June 30 Cabela’s Global Trade & Vendor Relations Department is hosting a migratory flamingo flock around the Sidney area. Sidney residents can send a big pink flamingo flock to a friend or neighbor’s yard for $20. If you have been flocked, like the above residence, you can call the Flamingo Busters and for $20 they will take the birds from your yard and flock them to the yard of your choice. That is unless the next residence has “NO PINK FLAMINGO FLOCK” insurance. Residents can purchase the insurance for $20. A residence can only be invaded by the flock once. Proceeds from the event go towards Keep Sidney Beautiful’s efforts. To purchase any of the above items or for more information, call Karen Stewart at 308-255-2384 and leave a message. Checks should be made payable to Karen Stewart. “In appreciation of the spring migration of the bird species ‘Phoenicopteriformes,’ Bob Olsen has a flock using his yard as a spot to re-generate energy. Standing in water, a flamingo uses its long legs to stir up mud, while holding its head upside down to scoop up water & food. In the absence of such conditions ... it is believed that a monetary donation to Sidney’s ‘Keep Sidney Beautiful’ will also send these birds happily on their way,” said Cabela’s staff members.
