Creek Valley FFA Spring Banquet

On April 23, the Creek Valley FFA Chapter held its annual Spring Banquet at the Chappell Lion’s Den. Luke Cavalli, President, welcomed everyone to the banquet and Hannah Schievelbein blessed the meal.

Greenhand Degrees were given out to the FFA members that met the criteria. Recipients were Madison Blackwelder, Newt Hummermeier, Colin Brott, Katie Burch, Keith Everitt, Nash Leef, Hunter Hendrickson, Wyatt McMillen, Cody Simmons, Chandra Smith, Jolly Snell, and Joey Straber.

Ashley Burr, Cory Phillips, Jerry Staber, Katie Andrus, Aftan Bartels, Logan Criswell, Ben Grabowski, Dane McConnell, Stefanie Mitchell, Hannah Schievelbein, and Caitlin Thomas were all awarded the Chapter FFA Degree.

Marica Schievelbein and Trevor Kortewere awarded Honorary Chapter FFA Degrees, for all their help this year and in years past. They have helped the Creek Valley FFA Chapter by serving a judges, van drivers, and trip sponsors.

Sarah Whiting, Creek Valley FFA advisor, presented the Top Member Awards. In order to be a Top Member the following qualifications must be met: One must have sold more than $200 worth of fruit, must not have missed more than two meetings, and must have participated in a minimum of four contests.

The following individuals are the 2012-2013 Top Members: Summer Mueller, Kelsey Wade, Logan Criswell, McKenzie Akeson, Hannah Schievelbein, Keegan Michel, Aftan Bartels, Shania Brown, Dane McConnell, Chandra Smith and Nash Leef.

The following awards were given by the chapter based on how many points the FFA member has accumulated throughout the 2012-2013 year. The Top second year FFA member award was given to Logan Criswell and the Top third year member award was given to Kelsey Wade.

Chandra Smith was awarded the Star Greenhand award and Clarice Ford was awarded the Star Chapter FFA award. Luke Cavalliwas awarded the James Roth Memorial Award.

At the conclusion of the banquet, Luke Cavalli announced the 2013-2014 Creek Valley FFA Officers: President-Shania Brown, Vice President-Summer Mueller, Secretary-Hannah Schievelbein, Treasurer-Nash Leef, Reporter-McKenzie Akeson, Sentinel-Dane McConnell, and Parliamentarian-Aftan Bartels.

The Creek Valley FFA Chapter would like to thank the following people for helping out this year: Terry Akeson, Marica Schievelbein, Kelly Reichman, Susan Mitchell, Patrick Ningen, Trevor Korte, Ted Classen and Vanessa Klingman. They each performed various duties such as judge, van driver and trip sponsor.
