On behalf of State Farm and the Western Nebraska State Farm agents, Ron Ahlschwede presented a check for $2,500 to Leyton Public School Foundation (LPSF) board member Cary Linton to be used toward promoting teen driver safety recently.
Before the presentation, a video was shown that encouraged seat belt use; the board members felt was important to show to the teens that were present.
In the presentation speech Ahlschwede stated that, in addition to promoting teen driver safety, the Leyton Public School Foundation also helps provide updates to facilities and technologies, grants scholarships to Leyton students and other similar activities.
According to State Farm, their approach to teen driving safety is by sharing positive driving habits and experiences rather than some of the more traditional approaches that often scare new drivers.
High school officials, safety advocates, local law enforcement and government leaders across North America joined more than 1,400 State Farm agents and thousands of teens and their parents for a celebration of this year’s new teen drivers.
State Farm recognized new drivers at more than 400 “Celebrate My Drive” events organized in all-sized communities. This was North America’s largest-ever simultaneous gathering of new teen drivers.
In a press release, Agency Field Executive John Eshleman said, “We are thankful to the Leyton Public School Foundation, State Farm agent Ron Ahlschwede along with the other Western Nebraska State Farm agents and everyone who came together in September to help rally communities around new drivers. Sharing these positive experiences and helping to keep them safe as they explore the road ahead builds stronger communities.”
Prompted by the grant from State Farm, the LPSF will have a “Teen Driver Safety Day” on Tuesday, April 9.
