Sidney High School compiling an alumni and email list

The Sidney High School (SHS) Alumni and Email List is “a work in progress,” according to Donna Wiedeburg, Webmaster for Sidney Public Schools.

For the alumni list, Wiedeburg and others at SHS are working to get as many names as possible. Currently, SHS has lists of student’s that date back to 1939.

Shane Johnson, of the Educational Foundation Board,says, “The Alumni List is a good way for graduates of SHS to keep in touch with their roots. A lot of SHS graduates leave, and this is a good way for them to keep in touch.” Johnson is very appreciative of the hard work that Wiedeburg has done on getting names for the list.

Wiedeburg said that they are trying to find all alumni to stay in touch with so that they may get reunion notices, newsletters and other information that will benefit alumni.

Joining the email list is important for parents/guardians and alumni, because important messages are sent out (including inclement weather announcements and upcoming events) to everyone on the email lists.

To join the email list, you may go to the Sidney Public Schools web site at http://www.sidneyraiders.org. On the home page toward the bottom, click on “Get email updates.” It will take you to a page where you enter your email address. After you submit that, you will be asked to click on “parent/guardian” or “Alumni,” you may click one or both; and then you enter your first and last name.

It is simple and it only takes a brief moment to sign up for emails and the alumni list. Wiedeburg says that the email list currently has approximately 500 contacts and that the information that is sent out is for kindergarten through grade 12, and that it is “all encompassing; the voice of the district through email.”

Wiedeburg went on to add that as the use of social media increases, they are trying to keep things current with it.
