SEGELKE HEADS SHS
GIRLS’ SELECTIONS
Senior Karissa Segelke, who’s headed to Concordia University on a dual basketball-track and field scholarship, was one of three Lady Raiders named to the first team, joining senior Kylee Price and junior Sarah Mahr.
Segelke, whose presence forced teams into numerous gimmick defenses, averaged 11.2 points and 6.1 rebounds for Tyler Shaw’s 16-7 club. She added 2.1 assists, and was tops in field goals (87) and free throws (74) made, as well as steals (46).
Price, one of the team’s top defenders, grabbed 2.3 steals to go with 2.3 assists per game. Price second on the team in steals (45).
Mahr, whose scrappiness beneath the basket despite her small frame, averaged 9.7 points and 4 rebounds. Mahr was SHS’s most accurate shooter, hitting 62.8 percent of her foul shots and 37.1 of her 3-point attempts. Mahr added 2.1 assists per game and grabbed a 50 offensive rebounds, second to Segelke (51).

MABEY, EHLER
TABBED AS BOYS’
FIRST TEAMERS
SHS’s Casey Mabey and Paxton Ehler, who both averaged double figures for Erik Kohl’s 15-8 Raiders, were recognized as first-team WC choices.
Mabey, a senior forward whose frame barely reaches six feet tall, put up 11.3 points per game, mixing 3-point shots with aggressive moves to the basket. The author of several double-doubles, Mabey grabbed 7.4 rebounds per game and also picked up 2.1 steals per contest.
Ehler, the Raiders’ top 3-point threat, led SHS with 11.6 points a game, and also snagged 3.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists.
Sidney sophomore point guard Lane Harvey and junior forward Logan Lewis earned honorable mention recognition.
Harvey, who ran Sidney’s offense, just missed a double-digit average (9.3 points) to go with 3.6 assists and 1.5 steals a game. Like Mabey, Lewis was steady on the interior each game despite giving away height. Lewis averaged 4.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
