Chadron State College President Randy Rhine has named Tena Cook, Chadron State College Director of Admissions, as Interim Marketing Coordinator to replace Justin Haag who has taken a position with Nebraskaland magazine. Cook has served as a member of the admissions staff since 1992 where her responsibilities have included writing and editing for printed and online recruiting materials. Tena has also been responsible for implementing the use of social media and inquiry management software in the recruitment process for new students.
“We are sorry to see Justin leave, but we are excited for his opportunity and know he will do a great job for the Nebraska Game and Parks and Nebraskaland magazine,“ Dr. Randy Rhine said. Haag will continue to live in Chadron.
Rhine said, “I’m thrilled with Tena’s background as the Recruiting Team Lead. It has prepared her for this role in a number of ways. She is experienced in answering questions about Chadron State College from parents and prospective students, she possesses a wealth of institutional knowledge and she has an in depth understanding of the integration of social media, inquiry management software, and connecting prospects to program information. .” He said that in addition to the traditional responsibilities, she will be tasked with a new initiative to further develop the President’s web page to serve as an internal information source for the campus.
She has years of experience in radio broadcasting and worked as the editor of The Chadron Record before joining the CSC community. Cook has had freelance articles published in the Scottsbluff Herald, the Rapid City Journal, the Fencepost, and her photos have been published in the Northwest Rural Public Power magazine and Country magazine. She has volunteered at Chadron State Park as an instructor for a beginning nature photography class she co-created. A new leader for the Recruitment Team will be named in the near future.
