The Sidney 4-H chapter will hold its spring carnival on Saturday, March 16 from 5-8 p.m. at the Cheyenne County Fair Grounds. This year’s theme will be “Shoot for the Stars.”
The 4-H extension educator for Cheyenne County, Kimball and Banner, Cynthia Gill, says that there will be all - ages fun for the entire family at this year’s event. Attendees will be able to partake in activities which will include a cake walk, Nerf gun target shooting and pillow fighting. There will also be a fishing booth and face painting. Be sure to visit the booth where everyone can make “sandy candy,” which is like “edible sand art,” Gill stated.
Don’t worry with eating dinner before attending the carnival, because there will be a concession stand serving tasty taco salads and delicious sloppy Joes.
You may purchase raffle tickets for prizes that include: $25 dollar Chamber gift certificates, an Ertl John Deere tractor, a Cabela’s gift card, a Crayon Quiet Book, a candy bouquet, a creeper seat, oil change/filter/lube, a Liberty Classic collectible, Michelin scarves, ruffle scarves, collegiate chime, a bucket full of dog goodies, and a garden gnome. These prizes were generously donated by individuals as well as businesses which included: American National Bank, Bomgaars, House of Flowers, NAPA Auto Parts, Randy’s Auto Care, Rood’s Tire Center, Shirt Tales, Sidney Feed and Sidney Floral.
Proceeds help fund the activities of the 4-H council, such as camp and school programs and it also goes toward purchase ofmaterials. The spring carnival is the primary fundraiser for the year.
Gill says that in addition to three new 4-H clubs chartered this year, many new members have joined. There are presently 10 4-H clubs in Cheyenne County that comprises 160 members.
