Marvel Brauer Seelye
1933 to 2012
Marvel Brauer Seelye, our amazing Mother and Grandmother was born in Sidney, during a blizzard on March 5, 1933 to Georg Ernst and Ann Catherine Brauer – 80 years ago today. Marvel was also the granddaughter of the late Fritz and Albertina Brauer, German immigrants and early pioneer settlers of Sidney. Marvel passed away on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, in Tulsa, Okla. at the age of 79.
Marvel was an exceptional student and excelled in all areas of concentration. She won many awards for her academic success. She was also the Homecoming Queen her senior year in high school.
Marvel was also the first female in her family to have a career outside the home and raise her children. She often said that her highest honor and achievement was that of raising her four children. Marvel has been an amazing, devoted, loving, hard working, beautiful, and kind Mother.
Marvel was an extraordinary cook with expert talent to match that of her Mother, Ann Brauer. She thoroughly enjoyed her travels to many destinations including those to Europe. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sidney.
In addition to her children, her grandchildren were the light of her life. We thank God for the 80 years that Mom has been on this earth and for God placing us together in this life and after.
Those left to cherish her memory are her four children and their spouses; John, Rusty, Randy, and Sandy. Her six grandchildren, Erin, Meghan, Adam, Brittany, Morgan, and Austin. three nephews and cousins Hazel, Ramona, Dorothy, Ruth and Helen.
We love our Mother and Grandmother!
We will miss you very much until we all are once again reunited in Heaven.
We honor our Mother today as we celebrate her 80th birthday. We know she is with us in Spirit!
