Cheyenne County Community Center is sponsoring a youth basketball tournament this weekend, with 58 teams from the Tri-State area taking part.
Boys and girls in grades 5 through 8 will participate in the event, which began Friday night and will run through the championship rounds Sunday evening.
Approximately 136 games will be played in the two and a half day tourney, with games being played in five facilities in Sidney: West Elementary, Sidney Middle School, Sidney High School, St. Patrick’s Church and at CCCC.
Teams from northern Colorado, the western Panhandle, central Nebraska, North Platte and southeast Wyoming will comprise the field, and will compete in seven divisions.
Winning teams will be presented Under Armor hooded sweatshirts.
Daily admission to the event is $4 for adults and $3 for children. Spectators will be given hand stamps, which will be good all day at each tournament venue.
