Daughters of the American Revolution meet

Members of the Fort Sidney Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution with Regent Mrs. John Mason presiding, met in the library of Western Nebraska Community College Saturday, Feb. 9, hosting Cheyenne County Genealogy Society president, Mrs. Lorraine Lafler, members and guests.

In honor of the February birthdays of “the father of our country,” George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, “the great emancipator” a tribute was read by Mrs. James Edwards.

Instructions on how to use the NET in finding and using the Bureau of Land Management records of ancestors in solving research problems was the lesson of the day.

Citizenship and property rights in several foreign countries was also investigated. Women over the age of 18 who trace their heritage back to a patriot – either a military person or one who served to gain freedom for the country are welcome to join the Daughters of the American Revolution Society (DAR).

Membership in DAR or the Cheyenne County Genealogy Society offers genealogy enthusiasts excellent opportunities to practice their research skills.
